Italy

Piedmont is one of the top food and winegrowing regions in Italy. The Langhe area was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is renowned for its wines, cheeses, hazelnuts, and truffles as well as for the confectionery group Ferrero (Ferrero chocolates and Nutella), based in Alba.

Turin was Italy's first capital city and home to the House of Savoy, Italy's royal family. It was the site of the 2006 Winter Olympics, and is well-known for the Shroud of Turin, the soccer teams Juventus F.C. and Torino F.C., and the headquarters of FIAT, Lancia and Alfa Romeo. The city also hosts the Slow Food biennial fair, Salone del Gusto/Terra Madre, which features 7000 plus exhibitors from around the world.
