On the south side of the fertile Po Valley lies the province and city of Modena. The city center of Modena houses the Cathedral of Modena, the Torre della Ghirlandina, and the Piazza Grande which are all designated UNESCO World Heritage sites. The city is also home to the University of Modena founded in 1175.

Modena is famous for the manufacture of high end automobiles like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani and Maserati. Perhaps it’s most famous for it’s production of Balsamic vinegar so popular among cooks the world over. It is also the birthplace of the magnificent Tenor Luciano Pavarotti.
